What A Season

What a season to believe in
I’m thinking how close we’d come
To losing all we’d held on to
But we’re still #1
If I could go back to when I was seventeen
I wonder what I’d do differently?
Would I do it all the same?
Let’s leave all that for another day
It’s not just never winning that really got me down
But a break now and then never hurt anyone
Could have been a pretty good thing
Such a good thing
And though sometimes I know we never really got it
It really dosen’t bring me down
When I turn around you’re still around
Yeah, you’re still around
Yeah, you’re still around
So what was I hoping for when I grew up?
As the world got smaller every day
And so I took a look around
So much familiar ground
Best laid plans where did they go?
And do I even remember what I wrote?
On those pages after school
How come it’s all so long ago?
And it’s not just never winning that really got me down
But a break now and then never hurt anyone
We really had such a pretty good thing
What a good thing
And though sometimes we never really got it
It really doesn't bring me down
When I turn around, you’re still around
Yeah, you’re still around
Yeah, you’re still around
Yeah, you’re still around

This Should Be Enough

If all that I can see is simply wasting out in front of me
What should I still believe in and can I even try to make it mine?
If time is mine to use up or turn into something with meaning
By the time I made my mind up another year has suddenly me by
Do you ever feel like you’re walking round in circles?
One step forward ten steps back the other way?
From a young man born with a heart full of ideas
Into a man with a head full of reasons why it was better that way.
And we know what kind of world this is we’re working with
And we’re sure it’s not just us that feels the very same way
If all that I can see is simply wasting out in front of me
What should I still believe in and can I even try to make it mine?
How can I be winning when I’m so tired of tryin’
How can I be happy when all I do is lyin’
You say anything is possible if you want it hard enough
Well I’m all done with pretending like when I said this would be enough
